Been eating their food for many years. Their fish and chip menu is just as you would expect and everything is good; from the pies to the fish and everything in between. Their Chinese food is also really good. We like the chicken curry and special fried rice, the salt and pepper ribs and my favourite is the crispy chicken with sesame seeds and chilli - no one does it better. Best to call and order before going to pick up they will give you an order number and a pick up time. Also they only take cash!

I really fancied a fish n chips tonight and with it being a bank holiday weekend most places were actually shut. Happy friend however, wasn’t. I have had their battered sausage, chips and fish cake before and they were really good so thought why not give the cod, pies and curry sauce a try. I can say that Happy Friend is probably the best place to get fish and chips in Leagrave. Considering they are actually more of a Chinese takeaway that does fish and chips, they are actually really good at it. The curry was very full of flavour, the cod freshly fried, covered in a very crispy, tasty batter. The pies were really nice, Pukka pies… chips also very very nice and they aren’t shy with portions either. Price wise it’s amazing and for the quality, I’d happily pay more. I honestly wish I took photos but once I took a bite out of the fish I was taken aback… I wasn’t even paying attention to my movie anymore, let alone think about photos LOL. The people and extremely friendly. The shop is family owned so you know every penny spent is for a good reason and it goes in the pockets of a bunch of very deserving people. I forgot to ask her name but the lady that served me was amazing, happy to engage in conversation & we had a few laughs making the experience even more enjoyable. Definitely recommend. I’ve got to try their Chinese next. ❤️

I live in Devon, but visit Luton often as my family is here!! Best Chinese!!!! Best fish and chips!!!! The fish is incredible!! The portion sizes are extremely generous. The chips themselves taste great!!! Good quality potatoes. The beef curry is my go-to if I don't have fish and chips
